Jealousy
Jealousy means you’re human
But not human enough
It means living beyond your dreams
Is way too much, too tough
It means spitting bile on others thrill
With rising panic sounding shrill
Piercing rage like tinnitus
Fight or flight thrown under a bus.
So, worse.
A sluggish, hibernating bear
Warning you not to try,
Don’t reach for the great wide out there.
Yes jealousy sticks in the roots
Grows thick if you don’t cut it out
Infects the soul with sickness
grinds the bones like gout.
Feeble, facile, futile
Revel in the power to shred
The plans of those who read the rules
But make their own magic instead.
Don’t sit there, meek, and take the dole
Awarded to the tired and small
Don’t stand on hand to sneer and offer
Poison that merely makes you suffer
While no one listens.
Least of all you. Not really.
Jealousy.
Energy wasted on the green screen
When you could be taking that leap,
Making your own scene.
You’re human, but that’s not enough.
There’s more that makes the shell a whole
Those days and nights so very tough.
So, find what lifts your shining soul
fear and graft, the looming failure
Beyond the comfort of your tower
Where ideas and dreams flow
Trust your wings, give them a go.
Ignore the comfort of that high prison
That gives the distance
To ignore, not listen
Pour scorn on the battle below
A lush landscape, now left fallow.
Your tomb,
A shaded wasteland
could be a nurturing womb.
Jealousy, it’s the hearts lament
Your wasted energy, could be better spent
